Ultimate Heliport feature in 2019 ’smoke on go” – FULL

South Africa’s first privately-owned purpose-built helicopter port opens in Midrand Ultimate

Ultimate HELI has recently unveiled its new R60 million heliport facility, based in the heart of the Waterfall precinct between the N1 and Old Pretoria Rd. As the country’s first helicopter-only development, it is conveniently located between Johannesburg and Pretoria, and addresses the need for increased hangar space in the area.

Ultimate HELI is a world class provider of helicopter services, supplying the safest and most efficient helicopter charters, helicopter maintenance, helicopter training, utility helicopters and helicopter support worldwide. Established in 2010 by CEO Shaun Roseveare and his partner David Simelane, the organisation has over 100 staff members employed in 12 African countries as well as Antartica, where it provides aviation support for various scientific research agencies.

Four years in the planning, the heliport, completed on the 1st December 2018, was planned according to the International Civil Aviation Organisation (ICAO) guidelines, complying with all recognised international
standards. The project also received the approval of the local Civil Aviation Authority (CAA), ensuring full compliance with South African requirements.

The first phase on 8 hectares of land, currently houses over 40 helicopters, 3100 square metres of hangars, state-of-the-art offices, a maintenance facility, executive boardrooms, restaurant and VIP lounge where customers are able to host meetings upon arrival or prior to departure. The second phase of the project, soon to be built on the adjacent piece of land, will include additional hangars, more offices and the latest flight simulators, in keeping with the company’s aim to transform the facility from a heliport into a complete aviation services node.
